Milites Pacis. Military and Peace Services in the History of Chivalric Orders
Milites Pacis - Proceedings of the Conference: The Monks of War, Monks of Peace. Military and Peace Services in the History of Chivalric Orders is focusing on a dialogue between the Chivalric Orders and those medical and charity organisations which are active in providing aid to crisis areas. Traditionally chivalric studies have been limited mainly to the Middle Ages. However, this book is focusing also on later centuries, and especially contemporary periods when Chivalry, once connected to the militia in warfare, is instead interpreted as the expression of engagement in the assistance to the poor and sick, brilliantly expressend in the principle which leads the Order of Malta: tuitio Fidei et obsequium pauperum.
